New Business

Vicki Almstrum mentioned a 4:30am doorbell ringer at several houses along 39 1/2 St. - the police were called and a description given. No word yet on any repercussions.

Mary Ruth Holder (Bellvue Ave) informed us that she is the new chair of the city environmental board (interesting charter - see http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/boards/results.cfm?bid=23). She has replaced Lee Leffingwell, who is running for City Council Place 1 to replace Daryl Slusher. She shared Leffingwell's business cards.

There was a brief discussion of the recent flurry of postings about the 45th and Shoal Creek intersection and a pedestrian crosswalk across 45th between Burnet and Shoal Creek. It was noted that similar proposals for both the intersection and the crosswalk have not been received well by the city. There was a suggestion to discuss pursuing sidewalks on both sides of 45th street to facilitate pedestrian access to the existing crosswalk at 45th and Burnet. The topic was was tabled, given that it exceeded the scope of the evenings agenda.

Geoff Helt gave a short presentation about a new shop in Rosedale Village (47th and Burnet) called PARALLEL that he is opening along with Carolyn Carlson. It will be a modern market with a kidÕs case (healthy foods for after school), a wine bar with pasta platter, coffee and smoothie bar and distinctive gifts. Opening is currently scheduled for January 27th. He mentioned that there has been talk of other tenants in Rosedale Village, including a day spa, a restaurant (TexMex), a European style shoe store and a sports and wellness center. He reiterated that those "potential" tenants are just that, potential.

There was a motion towards the brie and roasted tomatoes that Felicia Adams brought, and the meeting quickly degenerated into a good time.

Thanks to Terry Powell, owner of the Blue Crow Studio, for allowing us to hold the meeting there. Thanks as well to Sarah, who opened the studio during the meeting.
